FOREWORD
Almost all of us have the basic urge to copulate from the time we reach ten (give or take a couple of years). Because most children are kept unaware of what sex is all about, they do little, if anything, to satisfy these urges. And even when they do become aware of sex, upbringing prevents them from letting these primitive urges take free rein.
The young heroine in this book does not differ in most ways from almost all other girls her own age. She is sweet, pretty, clean, pure, and totally desirable. She comes from a Latin-American family where it is believed young girls should be kept pure by being kept ignorant.
And so when she falls into the clutches of a rake who manages to bypass her sense of decency by awakening her primal desires, she finds herself succumbing to his desire. More, she discovers an entire new world, a world she would never have known had she remained in the sheltered bosom of her family. Eventually she becomes a slave to her own desires, all because of the chemical changes wrought in her body.
Though one would fault the parents for the upbringing of the child, keeping her ignorant, and thereby leaving her open to a determined lecher, one must remember she comes from a country where it is the national belief to keep all young girls in the dark.
Our heroine is fortunate for she is neither high-strung nor oversensitive. In spite of her early introduction to carnal bliss, or perhaps because of it, she thrives and becomes a better person. But this book does point out the necessity of avoiding ignorance.
